Narrative:
Flying from fallon to reno via canyon. Failed to contact class C airspace while in canyon. When clear of canyon and called reno, was already well into class C airspace. Pilot was behind the airplane with respect to radio communications. Pilot needs to review charts better and know where and when the necessary radio calls must be made.

Title: PLT OF BE36TC FAILS TO CONTACT APCH CTLR PRIOR TO ENTRY INTO CLASS C AIRSPACE.
Narrative: FLYING FROM FALLON TO RENO VIA CANYON. FAILED TO CONTACT CLASS C AIRSPACE WHILE IN CANYON. WHEN CLR OF CANYON AND CALLED RENO, WAS ALREADY WELL INTO CLASS C AIRSPACE. PLT WAS BEHIND THE AIRPLANE WITH RESPECT TO RADIO COMS. PLT NEEDS TO REVIEW CHARTS BETTER AND KNOW WHERE AND WHEN THE NECESSARY RADIO CALLS MUST BE MADE.
