Narrative:
On the bowie 3 arrival at 11000 ft, 2 mi northwest of siler intersection, we received a momentary RA showing an aircraft to our left rear. Approach gave us a heading of 180 degrees and we received another RA. Looking out the left window saw another air carrier's B737 at our altitude and according to TCASII, 2 mi. Questioning approach, they said no problem since the air carrier jet had us in sight. Any time another aircraft is within 2 mi of my aircraft, I would like to be informed. I think the controllers here should notify all crews when positioning is getting that tight.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN ACR MD80 FLC RPTS THAT APCH CTLR HAD ANOTHER ACR'S B737 CLOSE TO WITHIN 2 NM OF THEM CAUSING 2 RA'S. THE CTLR DID NOT MENTION THE OTHER ACR UNTIL QUESTIONED BY THE RPTR.
Narrative: ON THE BOWIE 3 ARR AT 11000 FT, 2 MI NW OF SILER INTXN, WE RECEIVED A MOMENTARY RA SHOWING AN ACFT TO OUR L REAR. APCH GAVE US A HDG OF 180 DEGS AND WE RECEIVED ANOTHER RA. LOOKING OUT THE L WINDOW SAW ANOTHER ACR'S B737 AT OUR ALT AND ACCORDING TO TCASII, 2 MI. QUESTIONING APCH, THEY SAID NO PROB SINCE THE ACR JET HAD US IN SIGHT. ANY TIME ANOTHER ACFT IS WITHIN 2 MI OF MY ACFT, I WOULD LIKE TO BE INFORMED. I THINK THE CTLRS HERE SHOULD NOTIFY ALL CREWS WHEN POSITIONING IS GETTING THAT TIGHT.
