Narrative:
After takeoff from san juan I got up from my jump seat and my right leg was numb with pain, going from my buttocks down my leg. I called for the #5 flight attendant to come forward and I told her that my leg was numb and I couldn't stand on it. She helped me to the cockpit, paged for a physician and 2 doctors responded. On their recommendation I was laid across 3 coach seats for the duration of the flight. I was met by paramedics and was transported by ambulance to hospital. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: callback learned that the flight attendant was diagnosed with lower lumbar strain. Her air carrier insurance claims agent disputed that the pain and numbness were not attributable to on the job, but yet agreed to provide medical coverage and physical therapy. Reporter flight attendant says that she is now fine and the therapy helped. She also thinks that the seat design at 1L contributed to her problem.
