Narrative:
Status message trailing edge flap asymmetry and trailing edge light illuminated in cruise. Crew slowed aircraft and descended to FL330. Discussed situation with dispatcher and company maintenance control. Elected to divert to msp because of freezing rain at original destination, dtw. Declared emergency, briefed crew and passenger. Performed cockpit operating manual procedure and landed runway 30L msp without incident. Transmitting unit associated with flap warning indicating system had been replaced that morning and apparently was faulty.

Narrative: STATUS MESSAGE TRAILING EDGE FLAP ASYMMETRY AND TRAILING EDGE LIGHT ILLUMINATED IN CRUISE. CREW SLOWED ACFT AND DSNDED TO FL330. DISCUSSED SIT WITH DISPATCHER AND COMPANY MAINT CTL.
