Narrative:
I was on downwind approaching cable to land. I was at an altitude approximately 350 ft above pattern altitude (fortunately). A C172 passed under me approximately 500 ft from my right rear quadrant, turned 45 degrees to the right, and then turned base and landed. There was never any danger of a collision, but it is clear that the cessna pilot never saw me, established on downwind (if a little high), or heard my radio call. I made a 360 degree turn to the right, entered the downwind and landed without incident. This is a reminder to me -- don't get complacent in the pattern. I don't see what I could have done to avoid this, since the cessna overtook me.
