Narrative:

I was in radio contact with whp tower and approaching to land from the northwest. I drifted into vny air traffic area. There was a wind from the north which caused me to drift south into the vny traffic area. I should realize in circumventing controled airspace, the airplane course and track over the ground is important, not the aircraft heading. Make sure you either avoid another air traffic area (vny) or contact (vny) tower for transition clearance.

Title: PLT OF CT41 (CESSNA CUTLASS) ENTERS CLASS D AIRSPACE WITHOUT CLRNC. HE IS IN CONTACT WITH A NEARBY TWR AND ON APCH, BUT DRIFTS INTO SECOND ARPT AIRSPACE.

Narrative: I WAS IN RADIO CONTACT WITH WHP TWR AND APCHING TO LAND FROM THE NW. I DRIFTED INTO VNY ATA. THERE WAS A WIND FROM THE N WHICH CAUSED ME TO DRIFT S INTO THE VNY TFC AREA. I SHOULD REALIZE IN CIRCUMVENTING CTLED AIRSPACE, THE AIRPLANE COURSE AND TRACK OVER THE GND IS IMPORTANT, NOT THE ACFT HEADING. MAKE SURE YOU EITHER AVOID ANOTHER ATA (VNY) OR CONTACT (VNY) TWR FOR TRANSITION CLRNC.
