Narrative:
ZDV cleared flight direct powdr and resume the powdr two arrival for a landing at fort collins airport. We arrived at powdr and turned for slope using the FMS and backed up with VOR dvv R-222. Everything appeared normal. We were expecting radar vectors to final approach course to fnl. ATC then gave us a clearance direct den and asked us to call them on the ground. The ATC controller said it appeared that we were turning direct to fnl from powdr intersection and appeared that we were not going to slope intersection. I advised the controller that we were on the R-222 dvv and that everything looked normal to both crew members and we were expecting radar vectors prior to slope.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ATC ASSIGNS FLC OF CPR ACFT TO AN ARR FOR DEN WITH A LNDG AT FNL. APPARENTLY COMS ARE CONFUSED AND THE NEXT CTLR BELIEVES THEY ARE LNDG DEN AND CHASTISES THEM FOR A HEADING DEV. THE FLC INDICATES THE CORRECT INFO.
Narrative: ZDV CLRED FLT DIRECT POWDR AND RESUME THE POWDR TWO ARR FOR A LNDG AT FORT COLLINS ARPT. WE ARRIVED AT POWDR AND TURNED FOR SLOPE USING THE FMS AND BACKED UP WITH VOR DVV R-222. EVERYTHING APPEARED NORMAL. WE WERE EXPECTING RADAR VECTORS TO FINAL APCH COURSE TO FNL. ATC THEN GAVE US A CLRNC DIRECT DEN AND ASKED US TO CALL THEM ON THE GND. THE ATC CTLR SAID IT APPEARED THAT WE WERE TURNING DIRECT TO FNL FROM POWDR INTXN AND APPEARED THAT WE WERE NOT GOING TO SLOPE INTXN. I ADVISED THE CTLR THAT WE WERE ON THE R-222 DVV AND THAT EVERYTHING LOOKED NORMAL TO BOTH CREW MEMBERS AND WE WERE EXPECTING RADAR VECTORS PRIOR TO SLOPE.
