Narrative:
While holding short for takeoff runway 28, we were cleared into position. We then saw a C421 take the runway ahead of us, so we stopped. The twin did not have clearance and we were beyond the hold short line. The twin was sent back to the taxiway. The controller mixed us up with the twin after the twin made the incursion, thus compounding the problem. After about 7 mins and lots of landing aircraft, we were again cleared for takeoff, then told 'stop -- hold short.' I stopped immediately, asked if that was meant for me, and noticed another aircraft pass over and in front of us. We now know why we were told to stop, but not why the controller missed the other aircraft. We were again further beyond the hold short line. We were eventually allowed to takeoff and depart without further incident.

Title: AN SMA PLT SAYS HE WAS CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 28 AND THEN TOLD TO STOP AND HOLD SHORT. AS HE STOPPED HE SAW AN ACFT PASS IN FRONT AND ABOVE HIM ON A LNDG. RPTR CALLED THE TWR SUPVR LATER.
Narrative: WHILE HOLDING SHORT FOR TKOF RWY 28, WE WERE CLRED INTO POS. WE THEN SAW A C421 TAKE THE RWY AHEAD OF US, SO WE STOPPED. THE TWIN DID NOT HAVE CLRNC AND WE WERE BEYOND THE HOLD SHORT LINE. THE TWIN WAS SENT BACK TO THE TXWY. THE CTLR MIXED US UP WITH THE TWIN AFTER THE TWIN MADE THE INCURSION, THUS COMPOUNDING THE PROB. AFTER ABOUT 7 MINS AND LOTS OF LNDG ACFT, WE WERE AGAIN CLRED FOR TKOF, THEN TOLD 'STOP -- HOLD SHORT.' I STOPPED IMMEDIATELY, ASKED IF THAT WAS MEANT FOR ME, AND NOTICED ANOTHER ACFT PASS OVER AND IN FRONT OF US. WE NOW KNOW WHY WE WERE TOLD TO STOP, BUT NOT WHY THE CTLR MISSED THE OTHER ACFT. WE WERE AGAIN FURTHER BEYOND THE HOLD SHORT LINE. WE WERE EVENTUALLY ALLOWED TO TKOF AND DEPART WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.
