Narrative:
I was distraction by a police car on the taxiway. When it moved to let me pass, I inadvertently passed the hold short line for runway 1 at taxiway a. Since this taxiway is at an angle to runway 1, the hold short line is about 400 ft from the runway. There was no problem at all but I'll ask for more explicit instructions from ground next time.

Title: AN SMA PLT INADVERTENTLY CROSSES THE RWY HOLD SHORT LINE AT RFD WHILE OBSERVING A POLICE CAR UNDER MOVEMENT THAT HAD BEEN BLOCKING HIS TAXI RTE.
Narrative: I WAS DISTR BY A POLICE CAR ON THE TXWY. WHEN IT MOVED TO LET ME PASS, I INADVERTENTLY PASSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 1 AT TXWY A. SINCE THIS TXWY IS AT AN ANGLE TO RWY 1, THE HOLD SHORT LINE IS ABOUT 400 FT FROM THE RWY. THERE WAS NO PROB AT ALL BUT I'LL ASK FOR MORE EXPLICIT INSTRUCTIONS FROM GND NEXT TIME.
