Narrative:
Level at 10000 ft with approach to mem, TA on TCASII alerted us of a target approximately 5 mi away and 100 ft below our aircraft. RA sounded seconds later and we began a climbing maneuver as depicted by TCASII. While in this climb, we made visual contact of aircraft (large single engine (caravan?)). Captain made verbal contact with controller who stated that 'it might be an errant mode C.' the captain informed him of this visual contact. Top of maneuver was about 11000 ft and we returned to 10000 ft after conflict was over. Flight attendants reported not being aware of the incident. Company mechanics in mem were directed to remove the flight recorder per maintenance control. The conflicting aircraft in my opinion was in fact at 10000 ft as depicted by TCASII. There were no abrupt control changes by me while hand flying the resolution.

Title: FLC OF MLG HAS TCASII TA THEN RA AND TAKES APPROPRIATE EVASIVE ACTION. THEY THEN RETURN TO ASSIGNED ALT.
Narrative: LEVEL AT 10000 FT WITH APCH TO MEM, TA ON TCASII ALERTED US OF A TARGET APPROX 5 MI AWAY AND 100 FT BELOW OUR ACFT. RA SOUNDED SECONDS LATER AND WE BEGAN A CLBING MANEUVER AS DEPICTED BY TCASII. WHILE IN THIS CLB, WE MADE VISUAL CONTACT OF ACFT (LARGE SINGLE ENG (CARAVAN?)). CAPT MADE VERBAL CONTACT WITH CTLR WHO STATED THAT 'IT MIGHT BE AN ERRANT MODE C.' THE CAPT INFORMED HIM OF THIS VISUAL CONTACT. TOP OF MANEUVER WAS ABOUT 11000 FT AND WE RETURNED TO 10000 FT AFTER CONFLICT WAS OVER. FLT ATTENDANTS RPTED NOT BEING AWARE OF THE INCIDENT. COMPANY MECHS IN MEM WERE DIRECTED TO REMOVE THE FLT RECORDER PER MAINT CTL. THE CONFLICTING ACFT IN MY OPINION WAS IN FACT AT 10000 FT AS DEPICTED BY TCASII. THERE WERE NO ABRUPT CTL CHANGES BY ME WHILE HAND FLYING THE RESOLUTION.
