Narrative:
Flight was instructed to taxi down intersecting runway to runway 35L. Intersection was less than 1000 ft from end of runway 35L according to tower. Instead of back-taxiing down to the beginning of runway 35L, I just turned north and took off (over 9000 ft of runway remaining). We took off at a thrust rating panel of at -45, not normal thrust. No problem taking off.

Title: AN MD88 FLC PERFORMS AN UNAUTH INTXN TKOF USING A REDUCED PWR SETTING. THE PIC OBTAINED RWY LENGTH INFO FROM THE TWR CTLR IN MAKING THIS JUDGEMENT CALL DURING A NIGHT OP.
Narrative: FLT WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAXI DOWN INTERSECTING RWY TO RWY 35L. INTXN WAS LESS THAN 1000 FT FROM END OF RWY 35L ACCORDING TO TWR. INSTEAD OF BACK-TAXIING DOWN TO THE BEGINNING OF RWY 35L, I JUST TURNED N AND TOOK OFF (OVER 9000 FT OF RWY REMAINING). WE TOOK OFF AT A THRUST RATING PANEL OF AT -45, NOT NORMAL THRUST. NO PROB TAKING OFF.
