Narrative:
On the approach (visual) to ewr runway 22L the tower instructed us to turn to an easterly heading after passing the OM at 180 KTS, per the approach controller's instructions. The tower then vectored us back inbound and cleared us to land. Because of our relative position we had to maneuver the airplane at bank angles larger than normal to position for a normal landing. In retrospect, realizing that we needed larger than normal bank angles to position the airplane for landing, we should have executed a go around. The landing though, was normal.
