Narrative:
On visual approach to runway 27L at the hartsfield atlanta airport on a 10 mi final at 3500 ft a TCASII TA was observed for traffic at 2 O'clock same altitude (3500 ft) less than 1/2 mi. B727 aircraft was observed at 2 O'clock on final approach to runway 26R but at least 500 ft above our altitude. When I looked at TCASII display again target turned red and a climb RA was given by TCASII. I started climb and visually acquired a C152/172 at mid-field extended centerline between runways 27R and 26L at our altitude headed southeast at approximately 3000 ft horizontal distance headed towards us. Aircraft passed underneath us 500 ft below us. Lesson I learned was that had we assumed the TA was for the B727 we may have ignored the TCASII climb RA and possibly hit the C152/172. I would urge any pilot who believes that they have acquired an aircraft visually after a TCASII advisory and still gets an RA to climb or descend, that it should be followed in case there is another aircraft out there that they can't see.

Title: NMAC BTWN A B767-300 ON VISUAL APCH AT 3500 FT AND A SINGLE ENG CESSNA 500 FT BELOW XING THROUGH THEIR FLT PATH ON A CONVERGING COURSE. RPTR BEGAN A CLB UNTIL A VISUAL SIGHTING OF THE ACTUAL TFC CAUSING THE TCASII RESOLUTION APPEARED CLR.
Narrative: ON VISUAL APCH TO RWY 27L AT THE HARTSFIELD ATLANTA ARPT ON A 10 MI FINAL AT 3500 FT A TCASII TA WAS OBSERVED FOR TFC AT 2 O'CLOCK SAME ALT (3500 FT) LESS THAN 1/2 MI. B727 ACFT WAS OBSERVED AT 2 O'CLOCK ON FINAL APCH TO RWY 26R BUT AT LEAST 500 FT ABOVE OUR ALT. WHEN I LOOKED AT TCASII DISPLAY AGAIN TARGET TURNED RED AND A CLB RA WAS GIVEN BY TCASII. I STARTED CLB AND VISUALLY ACQUIRED A C152/172 AT MID-FIELD EXTENDED CTRLINE BTWN RWYS 27R AND 26L AT OUR ALT HEADED SE AT APPROX 3000 FT HORIZ DISTANCE HEADED TOWARDS US. ACFT PASSED UNDERNEATH US 500 FT BELOW US. LESSON I LEARNED WAS THAT HAD WE ASSUMED THE TA WAS FOR THE B727 WE MAY HAVE IGNORED THE TCASII CLB RA AND POSSIBLY HIT THE C152/172. I WOULD URGE ANY PLT WHO BELIEVES THAT THEY HAVE ACQUIRED AN ACFT VISUALLY AFTER A TCASII ADVISORY AND STILL GETS AN RA TO CLB OR DSND, THAT IT SHOULD BE FOLLOWED IN CASE THERE IS ANOTHER ACFT OUT THERE THAT THEY CAN'T SEE.
