Narrative:
I am the first officer reporting and the PF. While on radar vectors at 4000 ft for the ILS runway 27 at bos we extended the centerline off of loner intersection. Later we were cleared to intercept the localizer and cross loner at 3000 ft. Upon intercepting localizer outside of loner intersection at 4000 ft I descended to 3000 ft. I did not realize that we were still outside of klane intersection, which has a 4000 ft restr. Mentally screwed up by referring only to the presentation on the FMS which of course did not show klane. ATC made no comment. Supplemental information from acn 391281: while at 4000 ft I reset altitude alert to 3000 ft. After intercept of localizer first officer descended to 3000 ft. I mentioned that I thought we should have stayed at 4000 ft until klane 15.5 DME. I allowed the flight to stay at 3000 ft as we were now almost to klane and felt it was safer just to remain where we were. First officer felt if klane had been displayed he would not have descended and I agree. Also I should have picked up his descent quicker.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN ACR B757 FLC DSNDED TO THEIR CLRED ALT BEFORE XING A NAV POINT WITH A HIGHER RESTR ALT, BUT THIS POINT WAS NOT DISPLAYED ON THEIR FMS.
Narrative: I AM THE FO RPTING AND THE PF. WHILE ON RADAR VECTORS AT 4000 FT FOR THE ILS RWY 27 AT BOS WE EXTENDED THE CTRLINE OFF OF LONER INTXN. LATER WE WERE CLRED TO INTERCEPT THE LOC AND CROSS LONER AT 3000 FT. UPON INTERCEPTING LOC OUTSIDE OF LONER INTXN AT 4000 FT I DSNDED TO 3000 FT. I DID NOT REALIZE THAT WE WERE STILL OUTSIDE OF KLANE INTXN, WHICH HAS A 4000 FT RESTR. MENTALLY SCREWED UP BY REFERRING ONLY TO THE PRESENTATION ON THE FMS WHICH OF COURSE DID NOT SHOW KLANE. ATC MADE NO COMMENT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 391281: WHILE AT 4000 FT I RESET ALT ALERT TO 3000 FT. AFTER INTERCEPT OF LOC FO DSNDED TO 3000 FT. I MENTIONED THAT I THOUGHT WE SHOULD HAVE STAYED AT 4000 FT UNTIL KLANE 15.5 DME. I ALLOWED THE FLT TO STAY AT 3000 FT AS WE WERE NOW ALMOST TO KLANE AND FELT IT WAS SAFER JUST TO REMAIN WHERE WE WERE. FO FELT IF KLANE HAD BEEN DISPLAYED HE WOULD NOT HAVE DSNDED AND I AGREE. ALSO I SHOULD HAVE PICKED UP HIS DSCNT QUICKER.
