Narrative:
On engine start, #1 engine would not start due to insufficient APU air pressure. #2 started ok. Our idea was to taxi away from the gate area to run up #2 to boost APU air pressure to assist start on #1. There was an MD80 parked on the next gate to the right. In order to turn inside of that aircraft, steering was maximum right turn, and turning into the operating engine, power was above normal taxi power. The close proximity of the gate to the operating engine and the use of above normal taxi power resulted in damage to the jetway.

Title: FLC OF FOKKER 100 IS UNABLE TO START #1 ENG FOR TAXI OUT. TRYING TO LEAVE THE GATE AREA ON 1 ENG THEY BOOST PWR HIGHER THAN NORMAL AND JETWAY IS DAMAGED.
Narrative: ON ENG START, #1 ENG WOULD NOT START DUE TO INSUFFICIENT APU AIR PRESSURE. #2 STARTED OK.
