Narrative:
On jan/xa/98, while practicing 4 touch-and-go lndgs with my CFI, I went to complete my first solo flight. The takeoff and traffic pattern flying went fine. While landing on runway 1 at vpc, the undersigned acting as pilot (student) landed flat, hard, and sideways as a result of a crosswind gust. The plane landed hard and veered off to the left side of the runway. I tried to keep the plane taxiing down the runway but could not. It veered into a grass area on the left side of runway 1 where the plane was brought under control safely. The plane suffered no damage as well as anything on the ground (lights, etc). Corrective action included ground instruction and flight experience with regard to crosswind lndgs. Both have already been implemented and more experience is planned for the future. Supplemental information from acn 392843: the major contributing factor was a light crosswind from the right. The student landed with some side loading towards the left, indicating an over-correction for the wind.

Title: C152 STUDENT PLT VEERS OFF THE LNDG RWY ON HIS FIRST SOLO LNDG. ACFT NOT DAMAGED, STOPPED IN THE GRASS.
Narrative: ON JAN/XA/98, WHILE PRACTICING 4 TOUCH-AND-GO LNDGS WITH MY CFI, I WENT TO COMPLETE MY FIRST SOLO FLT. THE TKOF AND TFC PATTERN FLYING WENT FINE. WHILE LNDG ON RWY 1 AT VPC, THE UNDERSIGNED ACTING AS PLT (STUDENT) LANDED FLAT, HARD, AND SIDEWAYS AS A RESULT OF A XWIND GUST. THE PLANE LANDED HARD AND VEERED OFF TO THE L SIDE OF THE RWY. I TRIED TO KEEP THE PLANE TAXIING DOWN THE RWY BUT COULD NOT. IT VEERED INTO A GRASS AREA ON THE L SIDE OF RWY 1 WHERE THE PLANE WAS BROUGHT UNDER CTL SAFELY. THE PLANE SUFFERED NO DAMAGE AS WELL AS ANYTHING ON THE GND (LIGHTS, ETC). CORRECTIVE ACTION INCLUDED GND INSTRUCTION AND FLT EXPERIENCE WITH REGARD TO XWIND LNDGS. BOTH HAVE ALREADY BEEN IMPLEMENTED AND MORE EXPERIENCE IS PLANNED FOR THE FUTURE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 392843: THE MAJOR CONTRIBUTING FACTOR WAS A LIGHT XWIND FROM THE R. THE STUDENT LANDED WITH SOME SIDE LOADING TOWARDS THE L, INDICATING AN OVER-CORRECTION FOR THE WIND.
