Narrative:
With wind from 050 degrees at 15 KTS gusting 25 KTS, I set up for a longer than usual final leg for runway 10 at bid. There is a house on a hill perhaps 1/2 mi from the approach end of the runway. While passing in that vicinity, I experienced a rapid loss of altitude and airspeed, probably due to windshear. I added full throttle, but with full flaps in, it took an uncomfortable amount of time to arrest the sink. Once past that area, the aircraft ballooned, I reduced throttle, and landed uneventfully. Most likely, I violated the 500 ft rule over the house. This was not a buzz job, at least not an intentional one. Next time into bid I will use more airspeed and less flaps until extremely short final.

Title: PLT OF PA24-250 ON APCH ENCOUNTERS WINDSHEAR WITH RESULTING SINK. HE IS OVER A HOUSE ON A HILL AND BELIEVES HE WAS LESS THAN 500 FT ABOVE THE AREA BEFORE HE COULD RECOVER HIS ALT.
Narrative: WITH WIND FROM 050 DEGS AT 15 KTS GUSTING 25 KTS, I SET UP FOR A LONGER THAN USUAL FINAL LEG FOR RWY 10 AT BID. THERE IS A HOUSE ON A HILL PERHAPS 1/2 MI FROM THE APCH END OF THE RWY. WHILE PASSING IN THAT VICINITY, I EXPERIENCED A RAPID LOSS OF ALT AND AIRSPD, PROBABLY DUE TO WINDSHEAR. I ADDED FULL THROTTLE, BUT WITH FULL FLAPS IN, IT TOOK AN UNCOMFORTABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO ARREST THE SINK. ONCE PAST THAT AREA, THE ACFT BALLOONED, I REDUCED THROTTLE, AND LANDED UNEVENTFULLY. MOST LIKELY, I VIOLATED THE 500 FT RULE OVER THE HOUSE. THIS WAS NOT A BUZZ JOB, AT LEAST NOT AN INTENTIONAL ONE. NEXT TIME INTO BID I WILL USE MORE AIRSPD AND LESS FLAPS UNTIL EXTREMELY SHORT FINAL.
