Encountered moderate 'plus' turbulence on climb around FL230 to FL235. Captain advised ATC that we needed lower as soon as possible. We leveled off at FL232 as best we could in the rough air. Received clearance to FL230 where ride was smooth. Remainder of flight normal.

Title: A B737 ACR FLC ENCOUNTERED MODERATE TO SEVERE TURB DURING THEIR CLB ABOVE FL230. THEY STOPPED THEIR CLB AND REQUESTED A LOWER ALT AND, APPARENTLY, STARTED AN UNAUTH DSCNT BEFORE BEING CLRED TO LEVEL AT FL230.
Narrative: ENCOUNTERED MODERATE 'PLUS' TURB ON CLB AROUND FL230 TO FL235. CAPT ADVISED ATC THAT WE NEEDED LOWER ASAP. WE LEVELED OFF AT FL232 AS BEST WE COULD IN THE ROUGH AIR. RECEIVED CLRNC TO FL230 WHERE RIDE WAS SMOOTH. REMAINDER OF FLT NORMAL.
