Narrative:
ZNY issued us a clearance to cross 35 mi southwest of etx at 11000 ft and advised they had a report of severe turbulence in the area. We immediately prepared the cabin for turbulence penetration but as we initiated the descent and before the flight attendants could stow the beverage cart, the turbulence was encountered resulting in 2 flight attendants in the aft galley being badly shaken with minor injuries. While the warning by ATC was timely and accurate, if it could have been received only 2 mins earlier, the injuries would have been prevented.
