Narrative:
On the civet profile, ATC advised us to maintain 330 KTS or greater. We started to increase from 280 KTS and as we were passing through 310 KTS ATC asked us what our airspeed was, and I replied 310 KTS. Perhaps a better response would have been 310 KTS increasing to 330 KTS. ATC's response was to maintain 310 KTS now.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AS THE FLC OF A SUPER MD80 INCREASED THEIR AIRSPD IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE LATEST CLRNC INSTRUCTIONS, ATC ASKED WHAT SPD THEY SHOWED AND ADVISED TO HOLD THAT SPD NOW. FLC WONDERED IF THEY SHOULD HAVE STATED THAT THEY WERE PASSING THROUGH THE STATED AIRSPD FOR THE NEWLY ASSIGNED AIRSPD.
