Narrative:
Sanford tower had advised that their radar is inoperative and that we could depart VFR and retrieve our clearance in the air with orlando approach. Upon request we inquired what altitude was safe for myself and the captain to climb up to. We departed east and climbed to 6000 ft. Climbing through 4500 ft to 6000 ft. We called orlando approach for our IFR clearance and said she doesn't have our clearance yet and if we knew that we were in orlando class B at 6000 ft. She then advised us to descend to 4500 ft and wait to pick up clearance. We pick up clearance and then proceeded on our flight. To prevent: IFR charts should show airspace altitudes.

Title: A DEP ATX FLT QUERIES GND CTLR AS TO THE BASE OF THE CLASS B AT MCO. IS TOLD 6500 FT. THE ATX DEPARTS VFR FOR ENRTE CLRNC PICK UP AS GND CTLR HAD ADVISED THEM THAT THE RADAR AT DEP ARPT, SFB, WAS INOP. FLT PENETRATES THE CLASS B AT 6000 FT.
Narrative: SANFORD TWR HAD ADVISED THAT THEIR RADAR IS INOP AND THAT WE COULD DEPART VFR AND RETRIEVE OUR CLRNC IN THE AIR WITH ORLANDO APCH. UPON REQUEST WE INQUIRED WHAT ALT WAS SAFE FOR MYSELF AND THE CAPT TO CLB UP TO. WE DEPARTED E AND CLBED TO 6000 FT. CLBING THROUGH 4500 FT TO 6000 FT. WE CALLED ORLANDO APCH FOR OUR IFR CLRNC AND SAID SHE DOESN'T HAVE OUR CLRNC YET AND IF WE KNEW THAT WE WERE IN ORLANDO CLASS B AT 6000 FT. SHE THEN ADVISED US TO DSND TO 4500 FT AND WAIT TO PICK UP CLRNC. WE PICK UP CLRNC AND THEN PROCEEDED ON OUR FLT. TO PREVENT: IFR CHARTS SHOULD SHOW AIRSPACE ALTS.
