Narrative:
B727 dispatched with autoplt inoperative. Captain made takeoff and climb to cruise and then struck by some type of food poisoning. Lucky to have 3 other air carrier X capts onboard. All offered assistance. Chose B737-200 captain to situation in my seat -- more familiar with flight and navigation instruments than other 2 capts (B737- 300 and B767 captain). Copilot was relieved of hand-flying duties at cruise by B737-200 captain, who remained in seat for landing and taxi-in. B737-200 captain had also been instructor for 5 yrs on B727 and while not current, did have ATP for B727. Copilot flew approach and landing. Other than captain sick with food poisoning from hotel breakfast, flight operated normally.
