Narrative:

I was working mlc lo sector D and right combined. We have 'status boards' which each sector uses to display pertinent NOTAM information. The supervisor is responsible for this information and its accuracy. Some supervisors have developed the bad habit of handing a full page of NOTAMS to a controller working airplanes and expecting them to decipher an entire page of unusual idents. Most controllers basically ignore it by just checking the NOTAM sheet without review and passing it on to the next controller. This prevents relevant safety related information from being briefed to the relieving controller. The other option is to spend several mins with my head down reviewing and decoding the data. At the time I had 16 aircraft on my display. I refused to review the material until I was relieved from the position. The supervisor needs to decode the NOTAM sheet and brief the controller or xfer the information onto the status board themselves.

Title: ALLEGED SIT IN WHICH THE SUPVR HANDED THE RPTR A PAGE OF NOTAMS WHILE THE RPTR WAS ON POS INSTEAD OF PUTTING THE PERTINENT DATA ON THE STATUS BOARDS ASSOCIATED WITH EACH SECTOR.

Narrative: I WAS WORKING MLC LO SECTOR D AND R COMBINED. WE HAVE 'STATUS BOARDS' WHICH EACH SECTOR USES TO DISPLAY PERTINENT NOTAM INFO. THE SUPVR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS INFO AND ITS ACCURACY. SOME SUPVRS HAVE DEVELOPED THE BAD HABIT OF HANDING A FULL PAGE OF NOTAMS TO A CTLR WORKING AIRPLANES AND EXPECTING THEM TO DECIPHER AN ENTIRE PAGE OF UNUSUAL IDENTS. MOST CTLRS BASICALLY IGNORE IT BY JUST CHKING THE NOTAM SHEET WITHOUT REVIEW AND PASSING IT ON TO THE NEXT CTLR. THIS PREVENTS RELEVANT SAFETY RELATED INFO FROM BEING BRIEFED TO THE RELIEVING CTLR. THE OTHER OPTION IS TO SPEND SEVERAL MINS WITH MY HEAD DOWN REVIEWING AND DECODING THE DATA. AT THE TIME I HAD 16 ACFT ON MY DISPLAY. I REFUSED TO REVIEW THE MATERIAL UNTIL I WAS RELIEVED FROM THE POS. THE SUPVR NEEDS TO DECODE THE NOTAM SHEET AND BRIEF THE CTLR OR XFER THE INFO ONTO THE STATUS BOARD THEMSELVES.
