Narrative:

Departed dca. Leveled at 5000 ft. Controller said turn left intercept jet route on course climb to 6000 ft. Another controller came on and said turn left to 090 degrees, climb to 7000 ft, then he said turn right, climb to FL190. At that time I got a reduce climb RA on a VFR off my right at 7500 ft. I pushed the nose over but did not immediately make the right turn. The VFR on TCASII showed very close and I did not have him in sight. The altitude difference got down to 300 ft. There may have been a conflict with another VFR on the left that the controller was threading us between. It might have worked better if we were held at 5000 ft or 7000 ft until clear of all the VFR traffic.

Title: MD80S ACFT ON CLB AND LEVELOFF WHEN ANOTHER CTLR INTERVENED AND ASSIGNED A VECTOR HDG AND CLB. AT THE TIME RPTR FLC HAD TCASII ON VFR TFC AND RPTR CAPT HESITATED TO TURN DUE TO THE TCASII RA.

Narrative: DEPARTED DCA. LEVELED AT 5000 FT. CTLR SAID TURN L INTERCEPT JET RTE ON COURSE CLB TO 6000 FT. ANOTHER CTLR CAME ON AND SAID TURN L TO 090 DEGS, CLB TO 7000 FT, THEN HE SAID TURN R, CLB TO FL190. AT THAT TIME I GOT A REDUCE CLB RA ON A VFR OFF MY R AT 7500 FT. I PUSHED THE NOSE OVER BUT DID NOT IMMEDIATELY MAKE THE R TURN. THE VFR ON TCASII SHOWED VERY CLOSE AND I DID NOT HAVE HIM IN SIGHT. THE ALT DIFFERENCE GOT DOWN TO 300 FT. THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A CONFLICT WITH ANOTHER VFR ON THE L THAT THE CTLR WAS THREADING US BTWN. IT MIGHT HAVE WORKED BETTER IF WE WERE HELD AT 5000 FT OR 7000 FT UNTIL CLR OF ALL THE VFR TFC.
