Narrative:
At my freight air carrier they use the 121.471 rules to their maximum benefit, with no regard to flying the back side of the clock (nights). Also, our reserve policy is the junior man out all the time while senior people stay at home for weeks at a time. The only way junior people may seek relief is by calling in sick, taking a day off without pay (out of sick days). Fatigue. My event began in san antonio, tx, where I awoke from sleep at XA00. That night, I flew sat-dal-cvg-slc-smf, apr/wed/98 at XS00, apr/thu/98 I went to sleep. My biorhythms wake me up regardless to when I go to sleep at XB00 or XW00. This was no different. At XV45 (3 hours 45 mins of rest) I woke up, unable to return to sleep. XP30 I return to work and fly smf-slc-cvg. At XB15 the next day I was assigned a trip leaving in 1 hour to cvg-mci-den. WX in den was marginal at best. I would have landed in den around XS00. Looking back to my last good rest in san antonio, I would have had 3 hours 45 mins of rest in the past 42 hours, while attempting to land in minimum WX conditions.
