Narrative:
IFR clearance given including a SID called anaheim 2, lake hughes transition at long beach. SID accepted and reviewed, but misinterpreted to read a departure via lax VOR rather than pomona VOR. Upon being instructed to intercept V-8, I turned wbound rather than eastbound as contemplated by the SID. The problem arose because of a quick scan of commercial chart SID, I continued to read after the word 'thence' in lake hughes transition through ventura transition, which I interpreted to include a clearance over lax VOR. In other words, the word 'thence' was not sufficient to interrupt my reading which continued on. I intend to alert commercial chart company and suggest a dividing line to more fully signal clearance interpretation. Controller caught and finally corrected my erroneous turn and no conflict or danger presented.

Title: PLT OF AN SMA SEL TURNED THE WRONG WAY DURING A SID DEP RESULTING IN ATC INTERVENTION TO DIRECT HIM THE RIGHT WAY. NO CONFLICT WAS MENTIONED BY ATC.
Narrative: IFR CLRNC GIVEN INCLUDING A SID CALLED ANAHEIM 2, LAKE HUGHES TRANSITION AT LONG BEACH. SID ACCEPTED AND REVIEWED, BUT MISINTERPRETED TO READ A DEP VIA LAX VOR RATHER THAN POMONA VOR. UPON BEING INSTRUCTED TO INTERCEPT V-8, I TURNED WBOUND RATHER THAN EBOUND AS CONTEMPLATED BY THE SID. THE PROB AROSE BECAUSE OF A QUICK SCAN OF COMMERCIAL CHART SID, I CONTINUED TO READ AFTER THE WORD 'THENCE' IN LAKE HUGHES TRANSITION THROUGH VENTURA TRANSITION, WHICH I INTERPRETED TO INCLUDE A CLRNC OVER LAX VOR. IN OTHER WORDS, THE WORD 'THENCE' WAS NOT SUFFICIENT TO INTERRUPT MY READING WHICH CONTINUED ON. I INTEND TO ALERT COMMERCIAL CHART COMPANY AND SUGGEST A DIVIDING LINE TO MORE FULLY SIGNAL CLRNC INTERP. CTLR CAUGHT AND FINALLY CORRECTED MY ERRONEOUS TURN AND NO CONFLICT OR DANGER PRESENTED.
