Narrative:
I parked at the gate following the marshaller's instructions. The APU was not running, the right engine was shut down and the left engine was at idle while waiting for the ground electrical power to be plugged in and the parking brake was set. When the ground power was plugged in I put it on the busses and shut down the left engine. Shortly afterward I heard a banging outside the aircraft on the left. Since the jetway was up to the aircraft, all I could see was the marshaller standing by the air and ground power control boxes and a short segment of the ground air-conditioning hose that appeared to have been inflated. I subsequently found out that the marshaller had turned on the ground air to unfurl the hose and it had unfurled into the spooling down left engine causing damage to the nacelle and fan blades. This is not the recommended and approved procedure for unfurling the hose. If he had followed procedure, this would not have happened.

Title: B737-300 ACFT PARKED AT GATE AND ENG BEING SHUT DOWN. GND CREW HAD TURNED ON THE GND AIR TO UNFURL THE HOSE WHILE THE L ENG WAS SPOOLING DOWN AND THE HOSE WAS SUCKED INTO THE ENG CAUSING DAMAGE.
Narrative: I PARKED AT THE GATE FOLLOWING THE MARSHALLER'S INSTRUCTIONS. THE APU WAS NOT RUNNING, THE R ENG WAS SHUT DOWN AND THE L ENG WAS AT IDLE WHILE WAITING FOR THE GND ELECTRICAL PWR TO BE PLUGGED IN AND THE PARKING BRAKE WAS SET. WHEN THE GND PWR WAS PLUGGED IN I PUT IT ON THE BUSSES AND SHUT DOWN THE L ENG. SHORTLY AFTERWARD I HEARD A BANGING OUTSIDE THE ACFT ON THE L. SINCE THE JETWAY WAS UP TO THE ACFT, ALL I COULD SEE WAS THE MARSHALLER STANDING BY THE AIR AND GND PWR CTL BOXES AND A SHORT SEGMENT OF THE GND AIR-CONDITIONING HOSE THAT APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN INFLATED. I SUBSEQUENTLY FOUND OUT THAT THE MARSHALLER HAD TURNED ON THE GND AIR TO UNFURL THE HOSE AND IT HAD UNFURLED INTO THE SPOOLING DOWN L ENG CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE NACELLE AND FAN BLADES. THIS IS NOT THE RECOMMENDED AND APPROVED PROC FOR UNFURLING THE HOSE. IF HE HAD FOLLOWED PROC, THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED.
