Narrative:

Upon climb, flight attendant #2 reported smelling hot electrical smell. She called captain. The smell dissipated. Nothing further until descent and approach. After 'prepare for landing' PA and sterile cockpit, the first officer called back and told us there was a possible APU fire -- not to brief passenger, not enough time, we'd be on the ground in 3 mins. They believed the fire was extinguished. We landed without incident and had emergency vehicles approach and inspect the aircraft to ensure the fire was out. It was confirmed. We taxied to the gate, deplaned via jetbridge. No passenger or crew injuries, no smoke in cabin. Aircraft was taken OTS.
