Narrative:
Taxiing out to takeoff in my open cockpit biplane (stearman) on an absolutely beautiful day, I gave the engine a complete run-up and looked very carefully for other traffic since there were glider operations in progress. Seeing no one, I proceeded to takeoff on runway 30. However, there are trees that obstruct your vision of the final to runway 2 (grass runway), and sure enough there was a piper cub on final to that runway. I saw him just as we broke ground. It was obvious we were going to miss, which we did -- by about 500 ft -- so I continued the takeoff. It was a very sobering experience, however, in that I was very careful about looking for traffic, and still ended up in this situation. Had I been a few seconds later on my takeoff, we would have been a lot closer. I'll not only look next time at this airport, I'll watch the x-rwy pattern for several mins to make sure the 'blind spot' holds no surprises!
