Narrative:
ATC facility: dfw tower. Location: dfw. We were #2 for runway 17C dfw. TCASII showed the preceding aircraft 2.5 mi ahead of us. The captain asked if runway 17R was available, to which we were told no. At less than 1000 ft, tower said caution wake turbulence from departing heavy runway 17R, cleared to land runway 17R. The captain asked if we wanted to sidestep to runway 17R to which I responded yes. As we lined up for runway 17R, the next departing MD80 off of runway 17R, who was holding short, was given takeoff clearance. That aircraft saw that we were lined up for runway 17R and they asked the tower to confirm that we were landing runway 17R. The tower then asked us if we were landing runway 17R or runway 17C. We replied runway 17R. The tower then cleared us to land again, runway 17R. As we were taxiing off the runway, tower said we may have misunderstood his wake turbulence warning for landing. Myself and the captain are sure we heard, cleared to land runway 17R, after the wake turbulence warning. The tower was not upset with the situation, nor was there any conflict.

Title: FLC OF S80 ON APCH IS GIVEN CAUTION WAKE TURB AND CLRED TO LAND ON RWY THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY REQUESTED. ACFT HOLDING WAS THEN CLRED FOR TKOF. THAT ACFT QUERIED TWR AS TO WHICH RWY RPTR ACFT WAS USING AND HELD POS.
Narrative: ATC FACILITY: DFW TWR. LOCATION: DFW. WE WERE #2 FOR RWY 17C DFW. TCASII SHOWED THE PRECEDING ACFT 2.5 MI AHEAD OF US. THE CAPT ASKED IF RWY 17R WAS AVAILABLE, TO WHICH WE WERE TOLD NO. AT LESS THAN 1000 FT, TWR SAID CAUTION WAKE TURB FROM DEPARTING HVY RWY 17R, CLRED TO LAND RWY 17R. THE CAPT ASKED IF WE WANTED TO SIDESTEP TO RWY 17R TO WHICH I RESPONDED YES. AS WE LINED UP FOR RWY 17R, THE NEXT DEPARTING MD80 OFF OF RWY 17R, WHO WAS HOLDING SHORT, WAS GIVEN TKOF CLRNC. THAT ACFT SAW THAT WE WERE LINED UP FOR RWY 17R AND THEY ASKED THE TWR TO CONFIRM THAT WE WERE LNDG RWY 17R. THE TWR THEN ASKED US IF WE WERE LNDG RWY 17R OR RWY 17C. WE REPLIED RWY 17R. THE TWR THEN CLRED US TO LAND AGAIN, RWY 17R. AS WE WERE TAXIING OFF THE RWY, TWR SAID WE MAY HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD HIS WAKE TURB WARNING FOR LNDG. MYSELF AND THE CAPT ARE SURE WE HEARD, CLRED TO LAND RWY 17R, AFTER THE WAKE TURB WARNING. THE TWR WAS NOT UPSET WITH THE SIT, NOR WAS THERE ANY CONFLICT.
