Narrative:
Flight attendant #2 called to inform me that the passenger would not take his seat during taxi out. We had been told to prepare for takeoff and the chime had rung. The passenger wanted to use the lavatory. When flight attendant #2 asked him to take his seat, he used profanity and vulgar language and used the lavatory anyway. He 'strolled' back to his seat as we were rolling for takeoff. After 'sterile' I informed the captain of the situation. He asked me to have the passenger apologize to flight attendant #2 for the vulgar language and to explain again how critical it was for him to follow our instructions. Passenger continued using profanity with me at this point and wanted to prove that he was american by giving me his passport. I then realized he was very drunk. I took his passport to secure it and his identify in case of future problems. He went and passed out. 1 1/2 hours later he woke up, disrupted all meal services on his way to find me, demanded his passport. I told him it was locked in the cockpit for security reasons, he would get it back at the end of flight as long as he behaved. He then grabbed the cockpit door and was threatening me. A non revenue agent calmed him down and passenger passed out again until the end of flight. FAA, security and port authority/authorized met flight but did nothing because the captain did not get involved and my duties were not deemed important. Drunk, obnoxious passenger was sent on his way.
