Narrative:
I was approaching merrill field from the north on west side of knik arm. I called anc approach about 20 mi out and was working with them in class C airspace. As I got closer to merrill field, approach turned me toward merrill. Being from out of state and never having flown here, I lost some altitude and descended accidentally into elmendorf AFB airspace. When I got on the ground at merrill, the ground controller told me I had conflicted with landing traffic at elmendorf. I had all necessary charts and publications needed and required for this flight. As to why this incident happened, I feel it is because of the compactness of the anc airspace, my being unfamiliar with the area, and the way that anc approach handled me. It was completely different from any other way that I am used to in the areas that I fly.

Title: AN SMA PLT ALLOWS HIS ACFT TO DSND INTO THE CLASS C AIRSPACE AT ANC WHILE VECTORED FOR A VISUAL APCH AT 2000 FT IN PROX OF ELMENDORF AFB. HE CONFLICTED WITH MIL TFC ON APCH INTO EDF.
Narrative: I WAS APCHING MERRILL FIELD FROM THE N ON W SIDE OF KNIK ARM. I CALLED ANC APCH ABOUT 20 MI OUT AND WAS WORKING WITH THEM IN CLASS C AIRSPACE. AS I GOT CLOSER TO MERRILL FIELD, APCH TURNED ME TOWARD MERRILL. BEING FROM OUT OF STATE AND NEVER HAVING FLOWN HERE, I LOST SOME ALT AND DSNDED ACCIDENTALLY INTO ELMENDORF AFB AIRSPACE. WHEN I GOT ON THE GND AT MERRILL, THE GND CTLR TOLD ME I HAD CONFLICTED WITH LNDG TFC AT ELMENDORF. I HAD ALL NECESSARY CHARTS AND PUBLICATIONS NEEDED AND REQUIRED FOR THIS FLT. AS TO WHY THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED, I FEEL IT IS BECAUSE OF THE COMPACTNESS OF THE ANC AIRSPACE, MY BEING UNFAMILIAR WITH THE AREA, AND THE WAY THAT ANC APCH HANDLED ME. IT WAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM ANY OTHER WAY THAT I AM USED TO IN THE AREAS THAT I FLY.
