Narrative:
Hit turkey buzzard just prior to rotation. Thought it was a near miss as he passed over left side of cockpit, but after we were en route to dtw we called tower who said they found a dead bird. No abnormal indications. We called dispatch, wrote it up, etc. Uneventful landing.

Title: FLC OF DC9 ON TKOF ROLL HAS A BIRD STRIKE BUT PERCEIVES IT AS AN NMAC. LATER INFORMED THAT A DEAD TURKEY BUZZARD WAS FOUND. NO ABNORMAL INDICATIONS ENRTE.
Narrative: HIT TURKEY BUZZARD JUST PRIOR TO ROTATION. THOUGHT IT WAS A NEAR MISS AS HE PASSED OVER L SIDE OF COCKPIT, BUT AFTER WE WERE ENRTE TO DTW WE CALLED TWR WHO SAID THEY FOUND A DEAD BIRD. NO ABNORMAL INDICATIONS. WE CALLED DISPATCH, WROTE IT UP, ETC. UNEVENTFUL LNDG.
