Narrative:

During ground time in ZZZ, us, mechanics were instructed to maintenance carry over an engine anti-ice valve and hard wire it open for flight. On the jt-8D-15A engine the engine anti-ice valve is located fairly close to the fuel heat valve. After takeoff the #1 engine was observed to have a higher oil temperature than #2. Subsequent troubleshooting indicated that the fuel heat valve was open in addition to the engine anti-ice valve that was failed open. No engine limitations were exceeded. The blue fuel heat 'valve open' light had one bulb illuminated but was not observed until well into the climb. Because fuel heat is prohibited to be on for takeoff/landing/go around and because the blue light does not stand out consideration should be given to tying the fuel heat valve open into the master caution recall system (that is checked before each takeoff/landing) or change the lens cover to a more visible color.

Title: A B737-200 IN THE PROCESS OF DEFERRING THE L ENG R INLET ANTI-ICE VALVE AND WIRING IT OPEN PER THE MEL SPECIAL PROCS THE ENG FUEL HEAT VALVE WAS INADVERTENTLY WIRED OPEN CAUSING HIGH OIL TEMP INFLT.

Narrative: DURING GND TIME IN ZZZ, US, MECHS WERE INSTRUCTED TO MAINT CARRY OVER AN ENG ANTI-ICE VALVE AND HARD WIRE IT OPEN FOR FLT. ON THE JT-8D-15A ENG THE ENG ANTI-ICE VALVE IS LOCATED FAIRLY CLOSE TO THE FUEL HEAT VALVE. AFTER TKOF THE #1 ENG WAS OBSERVED TO HAVE A HIGHER OIL TEMP THAN #2. SUBSEQUENT TROUBLESHOOTING INDICATED THAT THE FUEL HEAT VALVE WAS OPEN IN ADDITION TO THE ENG ANTI-ICE VALVE THAT WAS FAILED OPEN. NO ENG LIMITATIONS WERE EXCEEDED. THE BLUE FUEL HEAT 'VALVE OPEN' LIGHT HAD ONE BULB ILLUMINATED BUT WAS NOT OBSERVED UNTIL WELL INTO THE CLB. BECAUSE FUEL HEAT IS PROHIBITED TO BE ON FOR TKOF/LNDG/GAR AND BECAUSE THE BLUE LIGHT DOES NOT STAND OUT CONSIDERATION SHOULD BE GIVEN TO TYING THE FUEL HEAT VALVE OPEN INTO THE MASTER CAUTION RECALL SYS (THAT IS CHKED BEFORE EACH TKOF/LNDG) OR CHANGE THE LENS COVER TO A MORE VISIBLE COLOR.
