Narrative:

On takeoff from runway 5L our weight and balance stated 76 passenger onboard when in fact we had approximately 129 passenger, so we took off weighing 10000 pounds more than we thought. After takeoff we received the correct weight and balance through our ACARS and realized what had happened. Evidently the gate agent sent in the wrong passenger count to central load planning. When we receive the weight and balance I check 3 things, zero fuel weight, gross weight, and the stabilizer setting, and this is also what our checklists verify. So I don't know how to solve this problem other than to put it in the checklist somehow to verify passenger counts with what's showing on the weight and balance data.

Title: AN MLG COMMERCIAL FIXED WING ACFT WAS DISPATCHED WITH THE INCORRECT WT AND BAL DATA CAUSED BY AN INACCURATE PAX COUNT.
