Narrative:
This possible discrepancy was brought to my attention on jul/xa/98. Inlet cases (pn-xyz) that are off-loaded for refurbishment, per inspection job card, are sent for a manufacturer run. This run is to obtain concentricity of c-f (pn-xyz) which cannot be measured in our shop. Because of the nature of set-up and the program used at manufacturer, they do a 'complete' run on the case to include concentricity, runouts, drops, and idents that are not required per the inspection job card. It has always been shop practice, in concurrence with air carrier engineering, that the other recorded dimensions were to be considered for 'information only' and only dealt with if something was extremely out of limits. This has been the practice since at least 1990 or before. For several yrs, 'all' cases went through this process.
