Narrative:
Our aircraft was being vectored for a visual approach. We requested runway 27. Approach control put runway 27 on request but for now 'we could expect runway 26.' as our aircraft was being vectored for the final intercept, the controller advised us that he was unable to give us runway 27 and we were cleared to intercept the runway 26 localizer. Shortly after the approach clearance our aircraft overflew the runway 26 final approach course. We corrected immediately and without incident. During the correction, the controller called to verify that we were proceeding to runway 26. After our correction, the approach and landing was normal.

Title: DURING A VECTOR TO RWY, FLC OF A B737-500 OVERSHOT FINAL DUE TO LAST MIN TURN IN BY ATC AND THEIR ANTICIPATION OF GOING TO ANOTHER RWY REQUESTED.
Narrative: OUR ACFT WAS BEING VECTORED FOR A VISUAL APCH. WE REQUESTED RWY 27. APCH CTL PUT RWY 27 ON REQUEST BUT FOR NOW 'WE COULD EXPECT RWY 26.' AS OUR ACFT WAS BEING VECTORED FOR THE FINAL INTERCEPT, THE CTLR ADVISED US THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO GIVE US RWY 27 AND WE WERE CLRED TO INTERCEPT THE RWY 26 LOC. SHORTLY AFTER THE APCH CLRNC OUR ACFT OVERFLEW THE RWY 26 FINAL APCH COURSE. WE CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY AND WITHOUT INCIDENT. DURING THE CORRECTION, THE CTLR CALLED TO VERIFY THAT WE WERE PROCEEDING TO RWY 26. AFTER OUR CORRECTION, THE APCH AND LNDG WAS NORMAL.
