Narrative:
After completing my preflight, listening to ATIS, I informed eugene ground that I was 'ready to taxi, VFR eastbound,' with the current ATIS information. The ground controller instructed me to taxi to runway 16 at A5. While taxiing I became disorientated on the airport surface. I then requested 'progressive' taxi instructions from ATC. The controller then became audibly agitated and said, 'A5 is on your left.' I then turned the aircraft to the left and inadvertently taxied past the hold line for runway 16. The controller then ordered me to stop and hold my position, which I complied with. The controller also reprimanded me for crossing the hold line. I was then instructed to do my run-up at the position that I was at. I was then cleared for takeoff and departed the area. Factors that created the situation were my unfamiliarity with the airport, and misunderstanding ATC instructions.

Title: PLT OF AN SEL SMA PASSED HOLD SHORT LINE RESULTING IN THE GND CTLR INTERVENING TO STOP HIM FROM GOING FURTHER ONTO THE ACTIVE RWY. THE TWR CTLR WAS NOT HAPPY WITH RPTR SINCE RPTR HAD JUST REQUESTED PROGRESSIVE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS.
Narrative: AFTER COMPLETING MY PREFLT, LISTENING TO ATIS, I INFORMED EUGENE GND THAT I WAS 'READY TO TAXI, VFR EBOUND,' WITH THE CURRENT ATIS INFO. THE GND CTLR INSTRUCTED ME TO TAXI TO RWY 16 AT A5. WHILE TAXIING I BECAME DISORIENTATED ON THE ARPT SURFACE. I THEN REQUESTED 'PROGRESSIVE' TAXI INSTRUCTIONS FROM ATC. THE CTLR THEN BECAME AUDIBLY AGITATED AND SAID, 'A5 IS ON YOUR L.' I THEN TURNED THE ACFT TO THE L AND INADVERTENTLY TAXIED PAST THE HOLD LINE FOR RWY 16. THE CTLR THEN ORDERED ME TO STOP AND HOLD MY POS, WHICH I COMPLIED WITH. THE CTLR ALSO REPRIMANDED ME FOR XING THE HOLD LINE. I WAS THEN INSTRUCTED TO DO MY RUN-UP AT THE POS THAT I WAS AT. I WAS THEN CLRED FOR TKOF AND DEPARTED THE AREA. FACTORS THAT CREATED THE SIT WERE MY UNFAMILIARITY WITH THE ARPT, AND MISUNDERSTANDING ATC INSTRUCTIONS.
