Narrative:
En route to atl on the rome one arrival from mem. Prior to rome was given clearance to 13000 ft direct dalas. When switched to approach control, clearance to pass erlin intersection at 13000 ft then descend to 10000 ft. Since we were cleared direct dalas intersection, erlin intersection was no longer displayed on the navigation display. We assumed we had passed erlin and descended to 10000 ft. I am not positive that we were past erlin intersection when we began the descent. This was a highly congested arrival and we were given numerous vectors. We had to eliminate erlin intersection when cleared direct to dalas intersection, in the FMC. The vors were autotuned to rmg VOR. Being a 2 man cockpit, we were task saturated and given an altitude clearance to a fix that we were no longer cleared to (dalas is beyond erlin). No conflict was indicated and the controller did not indicate we had descended early.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR A300 FLC PERCEIVES THEY ARE TASK SATURATED AND DO NOT MEET ATC, STAR ASSIGNED ALT. IN COMPLYING WITH DIRECT RTE ASSIGNMENT, THE PREVIOUS STAR INTXN IS DROPPED FROM THE NAV DISPLAY. ATC ASSIGNS AN ALT XING RESTR TO THAT INTXN, AND THE FLC CANNOT BE SURE THE INTXN WAS RE-ENTERED IN SUFFICIENT TIME TO MEET THE XING RESTR. PLT CONCERNED WITH WORKLOAD.
Narrative: ENRTE TO ATL ON THE ROME ONE ARR FROM MEM. PRIOR TO ROME WAS GIVEN CLRNC TO 13000 FT DIRECT DALAS. WHEN SWITCHED TO APCH CTL, CLRNC TO PASS ERLIN INTXN AT 13000 FT THEN DSND TO 10000 FT. SINCE WE WERE CLRED DIRECT DALAS INTXN, ERLIN INTXN WAS NO LONGER DISPLAYED ON THE NAV DISPLAY. WE ASSUMED WE HAD PASSED ERLIN AND DSNDED TO 10000 FT. I AM NOT POSITIVE THAT WE WERE PAST ERLIN INTXN WHEN WE BEGAN THE DSCNT. THIS WAS A HIGHLY CONGESTED ARR AND WE WERE GIVEN NUMEROUS VECTORS. WE HAD TO ELIMINATE ERLIN INTXN WHEN CLRED DIRECT TO DALAS INTXN, IN THE FMC. THE VORS WERE AUTOTUNED TO RMG VOR. BEING A 2 MAN COCKPIT, WE WERE TASK SATURATED AND GIVEN AN ALT CLRNC TO A FIX THAT WE WERE NO LONGER CLRED TO (DALAS IS BEYOND ERLIN). NO CONFLICT WAS INDICATED AND THE CTLR DID NOT INDICATE WE HAD DSNDED EARLY.
