Narrative:

On final approach, we lowered the landing gear and the 'gear unsafe' warning horn sounded and the left main gear (green) light did not illuminate, indicating that the left gear was not down and locked. On short final we asked the tower to visually confirm that the gear was down. They did. To us this indicated that it was simply a microswitch failure. We went ahead and landed. No event. What we failed to do was enter the discrepancy in the aircraft maintenance logbook.
