Narrative:
On vectors for ILS runway 36 grb, transponder went out (multiple recycling), then all radios, then all electrical went out -- all within 5 mins. No 'low voltage' light illumination. Continued on and completed ILS runway 36 approach and landed without clearance (to enter approach) or green light to land. Judgement should have been to circle until a light signal instead of continuing approach. I continued as if on an IFR flight plan. Called tower and was 'scolded.'
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PVT INST RATED PLT OF A SEL SMA LOST ALL ELECTRICAL PWR DURING VECTORS FOR AN ILS APCH AND CONTINUED APCH TO LNDG WITHOUT BENEFIT OF A CLRNC FOR THE APCH OR LNDG. PLT BELIEVED THAT HE WAS STILL UNDER IFR CTL AND WOULD CONTINUE IN A TIMELY MANNER WITH LAST INTENDED CLRNC. CTLR SUGGESTED THAT HE CIRCLE THE FIELD UNTIL TWR SIGNAL LIGHTS WERE OBTAINED.
Narrative: ON VECTORS FOR ILS RWY 36 GRB, XPONDER WENT OUT (MULTIPLE RECYCLING), THEN ALL RADIOS, THEN ALL ELECTRICAL WENT OUT -- ALL WITHIN 5 MINS. NO 'LOW VOLTAGE' LIGHT ILLUMINATION. CONTINUED ON AND COMPLETED ILS RWY 36 APCH AND LANDED WITHOUT CLRNC (TO ENTER APCH) OR GREEN LIGHT TO LAND. JUDGEMENT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TO CIRCLE UNTIL A LIGHT SIGNAL INSTEAD OF CONTINUING APCH. I CONTINUED AS IF ON AN IFR FLT PLAN. CALLED TWR AND WAS 'SCOLDED.'
