Narrative:

During a routine write-up in the maintenance logbook, 'a' autoplt and a flight director were written up as defective. Under direction and instructions from air carrier maintenance control, I improperly installed MEL 34-36B. The tech was xyz JJJ and the MEL's should have been an MEL for autoplt (CH22) and flight director (CH34). I should have written an MEL for both problems but instead referenced a previous page with the wrong MEL number. The error was aggravated by the pilots not knowing what system were working and air carrier maintenance control not giving me proper guidance on the problem. B737-400.
