Narrative:
I had just started push back in phoenix, az, for a flight to indianapolis, in, when a gate agent and a very concerned looking unaccompanied minor showed up in the jetway. I had the plane towed back to the gate to pick up the unaccompanied minor. Once onboard, I heard the flight attendants and gate agent mention that there were no more seats. It occurred to me that there might be someone onboard that could ride the jump seat. I made an announcement asking for a company air carrier pilot or other pilots. (I don't recall the exact words.) I got a volunteer and was able to seat the unaccompanied minor in coach. I presumed the pilot was from an air carrier, but we were already late, I did not check idents. En route I discovered he was not from an air carrier, but was a pilot (probably a GA pilot).

Title: AN ACR PIC OFFERS THE JUMP SEAT TO A PLT CATEGORY WHEN AN OVER SALE OCCURS AT THE GATE. IDENT WAS NOT CHKED UNTIL LATER AND AFTER THE FLT IS UNDER WAY THE PIC FINDS THAT THE PLT THAT RESPONDED TO THE OFFER OF A JUMP SEAT RIDE WAS NOT AN ACR PLT AS THE OFFER IMPLIED.
