Narrative:
Air carrier flight xx left aug/yy/98 bound for london with the left engine anti-ice system deferred using MEL. I gave a copy of the correct MEL to the 2 amt's who were working the anti-ice system. I helped them open the cowling and at their request, pointed out the correct valve and left to accomplish other tasks before departure. Later, when I noticed that the other amt was closing the cowling, I stopped to give him a hand. That was the extent of my involvement. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the left engine anti-ice valve was rendered inoperative per the MEL and the crew wanted to verify the method used to lock the valve closed.
