Narrative:
On landing sat, all instruments and flight directors normal. At flare, there was an abnormal sink rate. I added full power to arrest the descent and proceeded to land. The aircraft hit the runway and bounced. Again added power to land. The aircraft tail skid was struck resulting in the shear pin breaking off and the canister compressing. A part of the tail skid came off and put a small 1 1/4 inch hole/cut in the aft airstair skin. No oxygen masks in the passenger cabin fell. A hard landing inspection was made by maintenance and the hole/cut was repaired. I was immediately taken off flying status. The company gave me training in landing techniques and simulator training for lndgs. Was put back on flying status. Supplemental information from acn 412355: after going through customs they allowed only one of us to go back and check out the airplane. I went to check the airplane and saw the tail skid had been hit. I went back out to where the captain was and reported it to him.

Title: A B727-200 PIC BALLOONS DURING THE LNDG FLARE AND EXPERIENCES A HARD LNDG IN SAT ON A FLT FROM CUN. IN THE PROCESS HE HITS THE TAIL SKID, DAMAGING THE ACFT. CREW WAS IN CUSTOMS BEFORE THE SO WENT BACK OUT TO DISCOVER THE DAMAGE.
Narrative: ON LNDG SAT, ALL INSTS AND FLT DIRECTORS NORMAL. AT FLARE, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL SINK RATE. I ADDED FULL PWR TO ARREST THE DSCNT AND PROCEEDED TO LAND. THE ACFT HIT THE RWY AND BOUNCED. AGAIN ADDED PWR TO LAND. THE ACFT TAIL SKID WAS STRUCK RESULTING IN THE SHEAR PIN BREAKING OFF AND THE CANISTER COMPRESSING. A PART OF THE TAIL SKID CAME OFF AND PUT A SMALL 1 1/4 INCH HOLE/CUT IN THE AFT AIRSTAIR SKIN. NO OXYGEN MASKS IN THE PAX CABIN FELL. A HARD LNDG INSPECTION WAS MADE BY MAINT AND THE HOLE/CUT WAS REPAIRED. I WAS IMMEDIATELY TAKEN OFF FLYING STATUS. THE COMPANY GAVE ME TRAINING IN LNDG TECHNIQUES AND SIMULATOR TRAINING FOR LNDGS. WAS PUT BACK ON FLYING STATUS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 412355: AFTER GOING THROUGH CUSTOMS THEY ALLOWED ONLY ONE OF US TO GO BACK AND CHK OUT THE AIRPLANE. I WENT TO CHK THE AIRPLANE AND SAW THE TAIL SKID HAD BEEN HIT. I WENT BACK OUT TO WHERE THE CAPT WAS AND RPTED IT TO HIM.
