Narrative:
During climb after takeoff, captain came on PA and advised the cabin we would be returning to las due to a mechanical. We returned, landing was normal, and deplaned the passenger. After a delay, we reboarded the same aircraft, after being checked by mechanics, and proceeded to ord without problems. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states that she is a brand new cabin attendant starting in aug/98 and this incident occurred on the third flight of her career. She could not remember the nature of the mechanical problem but did remember that she was on an MD80S and that her position on the aircraft was #3 in the forward jump seat.
