Narrative:

RA while on descent into phl with air carrier X. While descending from 9000 ft to 6000 ft, ATC advised us to expedite descent. We complied with a rate of 2000 FPM. When passing 6800 ft, ATC advised to maintain 7000 ft. Advised ATC unable, then told to maintain 6500 ft. By this time we were at 6300 ft and got a climb RA, follow RA to 6800 ft. Came within 2 mi and 300 ft of airline air carrier X. Prior to this, we had been run up on the tail of air carrier Y to within 2.5 mi at same altitude before being given vector away from air carrier Y. The next controller advised air carrier Y was a B757 aircraft.
