Narrative:
I was flying skydivers in a dehavilland twin otter over lake elsinore. On the way up, I made a '2 or 3 mins prior' radio call on the local CTAF and also on socal approach. I received a 'roger.' shortly before arriving at altitude (9000 ft MSL), socal advised me of traffic at 2 O'clock and 3 mi, which I did not see, and I told him so. The other aircraft called me in sight. I began my jump run, and turned on the green light in the rear of the aircraft (the exit light, although jumpers are required to check the spot and look for other aircraft). As the jumpers exited the aircraft, socal called with traffic at 12 O'clock, less than 1/2 mi, and 300 ft low, I replied negative contact and then saw the other aircraft pass at my 1 O'clock low. Lake elsinore has been in the past a VFR reporting point. It has recently been changed to canyon lake, but many people continue to fly directly over elsinore to check in. At our drop zone, we make about 55000 skydives a yr, with 50-75 flts going up on an average wkend. We work with socal constantly while flying jumpers, and the controllers over the past few yrs have gotten much better at advising aircraft of our parachuting activities. Many times though, socal does not correct transitioning aircraft on the relocation of the VFR reporting point, and aircraft continue to fly straight to our drop zone to check in. I even made a phone call to the local FSS to get a standard briefing for a VFR flight from french valley to corona, which takes you directly over our airport. Even though we are a permanent NOTAM, I received no advisories as to our jump activities, even when I asked him. I believe with continued education of VFR pilots coming through the airspace, and continuing the already excellent working relationship we have with socal, we can keep transitioning aircraft informed about the intense skydiving activity going on over lake elsinore.

Title: ACFT RELEASING SKYDIVERS ENCOUNTERS NMAC IN SNA AIRSPACE.
Narrative: I WAS FLYING SKYDIVERS IN A DEHAVILLAND TWIN OTTER OVER LAKE ELSINORE. ON THE WAY UP, I MADE A '2 OR 3 MINS PRIOR' RADIO CALL ON THE LCL CTAF AND ALSO ON SOCAL APCH. I RECEIVED A 'ROGER.' SHORTLY BEFORE ARRIVING AT ALT (9000 FT MSL), SOCAL ADVISED ME OF TFC AT 2 O'CLOCK AND 3 MI, WHICH I DID NOT SEE, AND I TOLD HIM SO. THE OTHER ACFT CALLED ME IN SIGHT. I BEGAN MY JUMP RUN, AND TURNED ON THE GREEN LIGHT IN THE REAR OF THE ACFT (THE EXIT LIGHT, ALTHOUGH JUMPERS ARE REQUIRED TO CHK THE SPOT AND LOOK FOR OTHER ACFT). AS THE JUMPERS EXITED THE ACFT, SOCAL CALLED WITH TFC AT 12 O'CLOCK, LESS THAN 1/2 MI, AND 300 FT LOW, I REPLIED NEGATIVE CONTACT AND THEN SAW THE OTHER ACFT PASS AT MY 1 O'CLOCK LOW. LAKE ELSINORE HAS BEEN IN THE PAST A VFR RPTING POINT. IT HAS RECENTLY BEEN CHANGED TO CANYON LAKE, BUT MANY PEOPLE CONTINUE TO FLY DIRECTLY OVER ELSINORE TO CHK IN. AT OUR DROP ZONE, WE MAKE ABOUT 55000 SKYDIVES A YR, WITH 50-75 FLTS GOING UP ON AN AVERAGE WKEND. WE WORK WITH SOCAL CONSTANTLY WHILE FLYING JUMPERS, AND THE CTLRS OVER THE PAST FEW YRS HAVE GOTTEN MUCH BETTER AT ADVISING ACFT OF OUR PARACHUTING ACTIVITIES. MANY TIMES THOUGH, SOCAL DOES NOT CORRECT TRANSITIONING ACFT ON THE RELOCATION OF THE VFR RPTING POINT, AND ACFT CONTINUE TO FLY STRAIGHT TO OUR DROP ZONE TO CHK IN. I EVEN MADE A PHONE CALL TO THE LCL FSS TO GET A STANDARD BRIEFING FOR A VFR FLT FROM FRENCH VALLEY TO CORONA, WHICH TAKES YOU DIRECTLY OVER OUR ARPT. EVEN THOUGH WE ARE A PERMANENT NOTAM, I RECEIVED NO ADVISORIES AS TO OUR JUMP ACTIVITIES, EVEN WHEN I ASKED HIM. I BELIEVE WITH CONTINUED EDUCATION OF VFR PLTS COMING THROUGH THE AIRSPACE, AND CONTINUING THE ALREADY EXCELLENT WORKING RELATIONSHIP WE HAVE WITH SOCAL, WE CAN KEEP TRANSITIONING ACFT INFORMED ABOUT THE INTENSE SKYDIVING ACTIVITY GOING ON OVER LAKE ELSINORE.
