Narrative:

While leveling at cleared altitude (FL290) and hand flying airplane, autothrottles retarded from climb to cruise mode. After initial power reduction, throttles increased which pitched the nose up slightly. PF concentrated attention on throttles and power gauges and altitude increased to approximately FL293.5 when a correction was initiated. I was on the PA system with the passenger and should have been paying more attention to our altitude. The PF noticed the airplane still climbing about FL292 and started a smooth pushover back to FL290. Maximum altitude attained was FL293.5.

Title: FLC OF AN LGT OVERSHOT ASSIGNED CRUISE ALT DUE TO OVERCONCENTRATING ON SPD AND AUTOTHROTTLES INCREASE AND MISSED NOTICING THE ACFT'S HIGHER PITCH ATTITUDE CAUSING A CLB. CAPT WAS DISTR MAKING A PA ANNOUNCEMENT.

Narrative: WHILE LEVELING AT CLRED ALT (FL290) AND HAND FLYING AIRPLANE, AUTOTHROTTLES RETARDED FROM CLB TO CRUISE MODE. AFTER INITIAL PWR REDUCTION, THROTTLES INCREASED WHICH PITCHED THE NOSE UP SLIGHTLY. PF CONCENTRATED ATTN ON THROTTLES AND PWR GAUGES AND ALT INCREASED TO APPROX FL293.5 WHEN A CORRECTION WAS INITIATED. I WAS ON THE PA SYS WITH THE PAX AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN PAYING MORE ATTN TO OUR ALT. THE PF NOTICED THE AIRPLANE STILL CLBING ABOUT FL292 AND STARTED A SMOOTH PUSHOVER BACK TO FL290. MAX ALT ATTAINED WAS FL293.5.
