Narrative:

The situation occurred after hand-propping a piper J5 cub. This was a 1 person operation. The checklist had been followed, and brakes were set. I had been informed by one of the owners that, based on past experience with the brakes set and the throttle just cracked 'a hair,' the airplane would not move. I followed this advice, but as the engine started, it went to a higher RPM, and the brakes did not hold. I immediately ran around the wingtip to the door, in an attempt to get in and stop it, but it had started to move on its own. In the process of my trying to get in, it traveled a short distance, and ran head-on into a hangar door, and came to a sudden stop. The propeller stopped almost immediately. There appears to be no damage to the airframe. In hindsight, it should have been a 2 man operation. This could have been avoided.
